One Year Later: A Letter From Our Hearts

One year. Can you believe it?!
Well, we're still in disbelief! If you had asked us a few years ago if we thought we'd be celebrating the first birthday of Eden's Play Cafe, we probably would have smiled and said, "We hope so." Owning a business had always been a dream tucked away in our hearts—one of those dreams that feels exciting to imagine but almost too big to become reality. And yet... here we are.
A year ago, we unlocked the doors to Eden's Play Cafe with all the excitement, fear, and faith. We didn't have every answer. We didn't know exactly what to expect. What we did know was that we wanted to create something meaningful—a place where children could play freely, where parents could take a breath, and where families could simply enjoy being together. That dream was worth taking a leap for.
This past year has stretched us in ways we never imagined. There have been incredible highs that reminded us exactly why we started, and there have been super hard days that tested us and had us shedding tears. Some weeks felt full of celebration, while others were filled with problem-solving, long nights, and wondering if we were making the right decisions.
That's the reality of owning a small business. It can be beautiful yet exhausting and extremely humbling.
One of the biggest surprises has been realizing just how much we've changed. We don't think the same way we did a year ago. Every challenge has taught us something. Every mistake has made us better. Every conversation with another business owner, every event we've hosted, every birthday party we've celebrated, and every family who's walked through our doors has shaped how we lead and how we dream. We've learned that success isn't just measured by numbers. It's measured by hearing a child ask, "Can we come back tomorrow?" (This question makes my heart smile. Every. Single. Time.)
As we look back on this first year, we're incredibly proud—not because everything has been perfect (because trust us- it hasn't!), but because we kept going. We chose faith over fear. We learned as we went. We adapted when we needed to.
To every family who has visited, celebrated a birthday with us, attended an event, left a kind review, recommended us to a friend, shared one of our posts, or simply trusted us with a small part of your day...
Thank you! You have helped turn what was once just a dream into something real.
We know we're only at the beginning of this journey. There is still so much we want to create, improve, and dream up for our community. But if this first year has taught us anything, it's that the biggest dreams often begin with one small step of faith.
So on August 7th, we're celebrating one incredible year—not just of Eden's Play Cafe, but of every family, every memory, every laugh, every lesson, and every little milestone that got us here.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us.
Here's to Year Two (WOW). We can't wait to see what grows next. 💛
With gratitude,
Maria & Mavia
