How to Throw the Perfect DIY Birthday Party at Eden’s Play Café

We get it — we love throwing parties ourselves (we’re DIY-ers at heart 💛). That’s why we created our DIY Party Package at Eden’s Play Café: so you can customize your child’s celebration your way, but without the stress of starting completely from scratch.


Here’s your step-by-step guide to making the most of your EPC party:


Step 1: Plan Ahead

Start with the basics:

  • Pick your theme (keep it simple — colors, a favorite character, or seasonal vibes always work).

  • Choose your guest list — our space is designed for 12 kids + their grownups (and few additional family).

  • Send invitations early (we love digital invites through HobNob — easy + cute OR a simple text with an image made in Canva can do the trick).


💡 Tip: Don’t overcomplicate the theme. Balloons, colorful tablecloths, and themed plates can create a “wow” effect without the overwhelm.


Step 2: Gather Your Essentials

Here’s what to pack to make setup smooth:

  • Table coverings

  • Plates, cups (lidded ones for kids), napkins, utensils

  • Food & drinks– simple is best: fruit, sandwiches, or catering trays.

  • Cake & candles

  • Serving utensils – cake server, knives, tongs

  • Decorations – banners, tabletop accents, balloons (no tape on walls, confetti, or glitter).

  • Party favors– optional, but kids love a little take-home treat.


💡 Tip: Pre-pack everything in boxes or labeled bags (“decor,” “food,” “cake”) so unpacking is quick and organized. We also have a wagon to help bring in items and for packing up!


Step 3: Party Time!

Here’s how to keep the flow stress-free:

  • Let kids play freely!

  • Keep snacks + drinks grab-and-go style so kids don’t slow down.

  • Save cake + singing for the last 30 minutes— it helps kids wind down.


💡 Tip: Snap group photos early! Kids are happiest (and cleanest!) at the start of the party, so it’s the best time for pictures.


Step 4: Wrap-Up Made Easy

  • Our staff helps with cleanup of tables, chairs, and general space.

  • We will also help pack up food, décor, and personal items.

  • We built in time so you’re not rushed — clean exit, no stress.


Party Guidelines to Remember

  • Off-site food & cake welcome.

  • Socks required for all children AND adults.

  • Each child must have a parent/guardian signed participant waiver.

  • No alcohol, glitter, confetti, or spray string.
